Initially built only for Linux by Jonathan Thomas, thanks to its growing popularly, the software is now available on Windows and Mac, too. OpenShot is one of those rare open source tools that can blow the hell out of you.

I’ll go through the benefits and flaws of each program and in the end, I’ll reveal which editing option you should go with. I’ve curated a list of top editing tools that offer you the same capabilities as a premium editing software without any cost. And that’s what I’m going to talk about in this article. So, is it possible to alter your videos without spending hundreds of dollars?Ībsolutely! Example: these case study videos. a couple times. If you make your mind to buy a premium editing software like Premiere Pro or PowerDirector, it can cost you anywhere between $100 and $300 (depending on which software you choose and what payment plans it has). I hope in time for 10.04, but I've been wrong before. Transitions are the next big thing in the plans, but I don't know when we'll finally get them. I look forward to seeing PiTiVi developing into a solid and mature video editor for Linux. I guess for video editors, stability is a big requirement as you're not going to be around for long if users loose time consuming edits lost due to program stability issues. The fact that it is in Lucid sort of indicates hopefully some form of commitment and the awareness to have a decent video editor as part of the installed base. What I do like about PiTiVi is that it has been chosen to be packaged with Lucid and the the UI is Gnome and clean and simple. I import MOD file formats directly into PiTiVi from my JVC camera, works just as cleanly as my MAC, so I like that. I am running Lucid Lynx Alpha on my tiny Dell D420 as my traveling netbook companion. I too was looking to see if any plugins had been made available yet, and that is how I came across this thread.

PiTiVi ~ my guess was that it may be French as in petit, the piti part is pronounced the same way as petit in French, silent last 't', so a small video editing program might be called PetitVi, but PiTiVi would look better and easier for English speakers to pronounce.
